What is Cross Laminated Timber?

Cross-laminated timber (CLT or XLAM) is a wood panel typically consisting of three, five, or seven layers of dimension timber oriented at right angles to one another and then glued to form structural panels with exceptional strength, dimensional stability, and rigidity. Lightweight yet very strong, with superior fire, seismic, and thermal performance, CLT is also fast and easy to install, generating almost no waste onsite.

CLT offers design flexibility and low environmental impact. For these reasons, cross laminated timber is proving to be a highly advantageous alternative to conventional materials like concrete, masonry, or steel, especially in multi-family and commercial construction.

What are the advantages?

Strength

CLT is suitable for all projects, from small to large multi story buildings..

Speed

Cross laminated timber construction can speed up projects by 30% – 40%

Sustainable

Manufactured from a sustainable resource CLT can make your project carbon neutral.

Insulation

Mass timber construction is a great thermal insulator with high R values

Cost Savings

Major savings can be found in the significant reductions in installation time.

Precision

Panel are manufactured in a factory setting allowing for much higher tolerances.
